Orthognathic surgery with aligners is a trend that is gaining momentum but still has a lot of questions surrounding the topic. Why would one wish to pursue this route, if braces work just fine? Is the combination of aligners and surgery predictable for the patient? What about the finishes, "clearly" they can't be as good as braces? Join us as we explore the benefits, detriments, and overall journey of treating the orthognathic surgical patient with clear aligners.

2. After this lecture, you will be able to properly plan for single jaw (maxillary or mandibular) movements with orthognathic surgery with clear aligners.

Dr. Maz Moshiri has been a faculty member for Align Technology since 2013. He is the co-founder of the Aligner Intensive Fellowship, an online residency that has educated nearly five thousand orthodontists worldwide on the proper treatment planning and use of clear aligners. Currently, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the orthodontic residency program at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University, with a focus on clear aligners. He serves on the clinical advisory boards of Orthodontic Partners, LightForce Orthodontics, and is an Associate Editor for the Voice of an Expert column for the AJODO Clinical Companion. Dr. Moshiri is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics as well as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
